Deleting your data

Delete your herPrivacy account

Most of what herPrivacy holds is on your phone, and you can erase it yourself in seconds. Only the optional cloud backup involves us at all.

1. Everything on your phone

Open herPrivacy and go to Settings → Data → Delete local data. That erases the encrypted database on the device: every cycle date, symptom, note, prediction, report and export. It is immediate and it cannot be undone. Uninstalling the app has the same effect.

If you never turned on cloud backup, this is the whole job. We hold nothing about you, so there is nothing else to ask us for.

2. Backups held on our servers

If you turned on backup, encrypted copies of your data sit in our storage until you ask us to remove them. There is no button for this inside the app yet, so email the address below and say whether you want only the backups deleted or the account as well. We could not read those copies in any case — they are encrypted on your phone with a passphrase we never receive — but they are yours, and we delete them on request.

3. Your account record

A small record remains after the steps above: an internal identifier, the reference our authentication provider gives us for your email address, and the dates the account was created and last used. It contains nothing about your cycle. To have it removed, email us:

  • Deletion requests karao.digital@gmail.com

Please send the email from the address you signed in with, and put "Delete my account" in the subject line. That is the only way we can tell which record is yours — we cannot search by name, because we do not have your name.

We act on these by hand today, and we would rather tell you that than imply a button exists. We will confirm within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30, in line with the response window published in our Privacy Policy.

What is deleted

  • Every encrypted backup held in our storage, verified empty rather than assumed.
  • Your account record and everything linked to it, which cascades in one operation.
  • Your email address at our authentication provider, which we ask them to remove at the same time.

What is kept, and why

One row survives: a record that a deletion was requested and completed, holding the request date, the completion date and a verification hash. It deliberately does not reference your account, so it cannot be used to identify you or to reconstruct anything. It exists because the Digital Personal Data Protection Act expects us to be able to show that a deletion actually happened — evidence that outlives the data it is evidence about.

If you simply stop using the app

You do not have to ask. If you do not open herPrivacy for 24 months, your backups are marked for deletion and removed 30 days later. Data on your phone is untouched. We do not email you before this happens, and we say so plainly rather than implying a warning you will not receive.
