The difference
Understanding your pattern is.
A calendar app that confidently predicts a date and is wrong every month tells you nothing about what is happening in your body. herPrivacy is built the other way round: it learns the range your own cycles move within, widens or narrows what it shows as the evidence changes, and stops predicting entirely when there is not enough consistency to support a date.
For irregular cycles the primary output is not a date at all. It is the pattern — which symptoms recur, when they cluster, and what has changed since last time.

What stays on your phone
Period dates and flow, symptoms, your notes, the answers you gave at setup, predictions, detected patterns, the explanations you are shown, and any report or export you generate. It is held in an encrypted database (SQLCipher, AES-256) whose key is generated on the device and kept in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore. It is never transmitted.
What the app never sends
No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no advertising identifiers. There is no third-party tracking of any kind and no advertising SDK in the app. Nothing is sent in aggregate, anonymised, or for research either.
If you turn on backup
A snapshot is encrypted on your phone with a passphrase we never receive, and only the resulting ciphertext is uploaded. We can see its size and when it was made, and nothing about what is inside. If you lose the passphrase, the backup cannot be recovered — by anyone, including us.

Works with no network
Tracking, predictions, pattern analysis and explanations all run on the device. Offline is the normal state, not a failure state — there is no spinner waiting on a server.

A summary for your doctor
Generate a private PDF of your history to take to an appointment. It is made on your phone and shared only if you choose to share it. It records what you logged; it is not a clinical record and not a diagnosis.

Backup, only if you want it
If you want a copy in case your phone is lost, herPrivacy encrypts a snapshot on the phone first, with a passphrase only you know. It is the one feature that asks you to sign in, and you never have to.

Discreet on a shared phone
Optional app lock with a PIN or biometrics, notifications that say nothing on the lock screen, and screenshot blocking on sensitive screens. Nothing in the icon announces what the app is for.

The interface is fully translated into all eight — including Assamese, which shares a script with Bengali but not two of its letters, and which most apps get wrong.
One honest caveat. The explanation library inside the app is written in English today; translating health copy is work for a native speaker, not a machine, and it is in progress.
What it costs
Free, and not paid for by you in some other way.
There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising. Tracking, predictions, PCOS pattern analysis and explanations are free and are never placed behind a paywall — you should not have to pay to understand your own body.
There is no advertising business behind this, in any tier, ever. Your data is not the product, and the architecture on this page is what makes that a fact rather than a preference.
Worth being clear about
What herPrivacy is not.
Three things this app will never do, stated here rather than in the small print.

Not a medical device
It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. It can show you that symptoms have recurred together; what that means is a question for a doctor.

Not a contraceptive
No prediction it makes should be used to avoid pregnancy. Estimates drawn from your own history are frequently wrong, most of all for irregular cycles.

Not a second opinion
It will say when something is worth asking about, and never what it is. The absence of a flag is not reassurance — if something worries you, see a doctor.

Do I need an account?
No. Onboarding never asks who you are — there is no phone number, no email, no sign-up screen. An account is needed for exactly one thing: turning on encrypted backup, because there is no way to give your data back to you on a new phone without one.
Can you see my data?
No, and not by policy — by construction. Everything you log is stored in an encrypted database on your phone, with the key held in the platform keystore. It is never transmitted. If you turn on backup, what we store is ciphertext encrypted on your phone with a passphrase we never receive.
Is it free?
Yes. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising. Tracking, predictions, pattern analysis and explanations are free and are never placed behind a paywall.
Does it work offline?
Completely. Every core feature runs on the device, including predictions and explanations. You can use herPrivacy with the network switched off indefinitely.
What happens if I lose my phone?
If you never turned on backup, the data was only ever on that phone, and it is gone — that is the direct cost of the guarantee that nobody else could read it. If you did turn on backup, you sign in on the new phone and restore it with your recovery passphrase.
What if I forget my backup passphrase?
Your backup cannot be recovered — not by you, and not by us. There is no reset, because a reset we could perform would mean we could read your data. Write the passphrase down and keep it somewhere safe, separate from your phone.
Can it tell me whether I have PCOS?
No. herPrivacy is not a medical device and does not diagnose anything. It can show you that certain symptoms have appeared together across several cycles, and it will suggest when a pattern is worth asking a doctor about. What it means is a question for that doctor.
Can I use it to avoid pregnancy?
No. herPrivacy is not a contraceptive and must not be used as one. Cycle predictions are estimates from your own past data and are frequently wrong — particularly for irregular cycles, which is exactly who this app is built for.
Is there advertising, or is my data sold?
There is no advertising in the app, in any form, and no advertising SDK. Your data is not sold or shared with advertisers, data brokers, insurers or employers, and it is not used to train machine-learning models.
